STUDIO KIT DOCUMENTATION
Build your site
with Studio Kit.
Install the theme and section library, import the Studio pages, and customize your site in the WordPress block editor.
What’s included and what you need
Studio Kit includes the UrbanWP Studio theme, the UrbanWP Core plugin with 15 section types, UrbanWP Seeder, and installation and developer guides.
Use WordPress 6.6 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer. ACF Pro 6.6 or newer is optional and requires a separate license. Without ACF Pro, sections use the included native block controls. Elementor and other page builders are not required.
1. Install the Studio Kit
- Extract the customer bundle on your computer. It contains separate ZIP files for the theme and plugins.
- In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin. Upload urbanwp-core-1.0.2.zip, install it, and activate UrbanWP Core.
- Open Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme → Upload Theme. Upload urbanwp-studio-1.0.0.zip, install it, and activate UrbanWP Studio.
- Upload urbanwp-seeder-1.0.0.zip through the plugin uploader and activate UrbanWP Seeder.
Use a backed-up staging installation for the initial setup so you can review the imported pages before launch.
2. Import the Studio pages
- Open Tools → UrbanWP Seeder.
- Select Studio Kit customer site and click Preview plan.
- Review the six pages: Home, Work, Services, About, Contact, and Privacy. The importer also adds three illustrative project images to the Media Library.
- Leave the publication option unchecked to create drafts, or select Publish newly created non-policy pages. Privacy always starts as a draft.
- To use the imported Home page and primary navigation, select the homepage/menu assignment option. The Home page must be published for assignment to succeed.
- Click Run reviewed plan, check the result, and deactivate UrbanWP Seeder when finished.
Rerunning the importer preserves previously imported pages and your edits. It creates missing pages; it does not reset a design. If an unrelated page already uses a required slug, the import stops. Resolve the slug conflict before rerunning. If an imported page is in Trash, restore it first.
3. Edit and arrange sections
Open Pages → All Pages, choose a page, and click Edit. Select a section directly on the canvas or through List View. Change its text, links, images, and available options in the Block sidebar, then save the page.
With ACF Pro active, use the section’s fields in the Block sidebar or choose Open Expanded Editor for a larger editing panel. Without ACF Pro, use the native section controls.
Use the block mover or drag sections in List View to change their order. Use the inserter to add UrbanWP sections or standard WordPress blocks. Duplicate an existing section when you want to reuse its layout with different content.
The 15 section types
- Editorial hero / Split hero: page introductions with text, actions, and visual options.
- Benefits strip: a compact row of key points.
- Product showcase: linked product cards.
- Feature grid: grouped features with icons and descriptions.
- Image and text: an image beside supporting copy.
- Numbered process: sequential steps.
- Pricing panel: a price, included features, and an action.
- FAQ accordion: expandable questions and answers.
- Call to action: a closing message and links.
- Project gallery: project images, descriptions, and optional links.
- Services list: service names and descriptions.
- Editorial quote: a statement and attribution.
- Contact section: introductory copy and an inquiry form.
- Rich content: formatted text, headings, links, and lists.
4. Apply your branding
Set your business name and footer tagline under Settings → UrbanWP. Upload your logo under Appearance → Customize → Site Identity. Set the accent, background, and text colors under Appearance → Customize → UrbanWP colors.
Edit page copy, project images, button labels, and destinations in the section fields. Assign your navigation under Appearance → Menus and select the Primary navigation location. If you kept the imported Home page as a draft, publish it and select it under Settings → Reading → A static page.
The kit uses system fonts and locally bundled Phosphor icons. The imported Northline identity and project artwork demonstrate the layout; replace them with your business content before publishing a client site.
5. Set up inquiries
Enter the destination email address in Settings → UrbanWP → Contact recipient. The Contact section uses the built-in inquiry form by default.
To use Ninja Forms, install and activate Ninja Forms, create your form, configure its email notifications, and enter its numeric ID in Settings → UrbanWP → Ninja Forms form ID. A Contact section’s Form ID can select a form for that section.
Send a test inquiry and confirm that it arrives in the destination inbox. A success message confirms that WordPress accepted the send request; it does not confirm inbox delivery. If mail does not arrive, check spam and your host’s mail or SMTP configuration.
Core 1.0.2 marks pages containing the built-in Contact section as uncacheable. If your host uses an additional full-page cache, verify that the form page is excluded there too.
6. Check the finished site
- Check every page’s copy, images, navigation, and button destinations.
- Review the Privacy draft against the data your site actually collects before publishing it.
- Check desktop and mobile layouts, keyboard navigation, and text contrast after changing colors.
- Confirm inquiry delivery and any Ninja Forms notifications.
- Set page titles, descriptions, and indexing settings in your SEO plugin.
- If you add analytics, configure one insertion method for each tag and test it for duplicate events.
SEO, caching, forms, and analytics plugins are installed and configured separately. Studio Kit does not include third-party licenses or add visitor tracking by default.
Troubleshooting
“The package could not be installed”: extract the outer customer bundle first. Upload the Studio theme ZIP through Appearance and each plugin ZIP through Plugins.
Sections are missing or unavailable: confirm that UrbanWP Core is active and reload the editor. The standalone free sample contains only three sections; it does not replace the full Core library.
ACF fields are missing: confirm ACF Pro 6.6+ and Core 1.0.2 are active. Select the section and open the Block sidebar. Plugins that force the classic editor can prevent block editing.
The seeder reports a theme mismatch: activate UrbanWP Studio and select the Studio Kit customer site profile.
The importer preserved an existing page: this is expected. Edit that page directly; rerunning the seeder does not overwrite it.
Changes are not visible: save the page and clear the relevant page cache. Check the published page in a separate browser tab.
For developers
Section metadata lives in urbanwp-core/blocks/[section]/block.json. Field definitions are in urbanwp-core/schemas.json, and server-rendered markup is in urbanwp-core/render.php. Studio theme styles are in urbanwp-studio/assets/site.css. No package manager or compilation step is required.
Keep custom PHP and template overrides in a child theme or separate plugin so replacing the distributed files does not remove your changes. Back up customizations before applying an update.
The theme and plugin code is licensed GPL-2.0-or-later. See the bundled license and third-party notices for asset attribution and terms.
For a kit question, contact UrbanWP with your WordPress, PHP, Core, and ACF versions, the section involved, and steps to reproduce the issue.
